The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that, annually, there are tens of thousands of Dryer Fires, resulting in many injuries or death, due to dirty dryer vents and hoses. Fires occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint will block the flow of air, causing excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dirty dryer vents are not only a leading cause for home fires, they can take a toll on your pocket, and your time as well. Listed below are signs you should look out for which will let you know that it's time to book an appointment to have your dryer vents cleaned.

It takes more than one cycle for your clothing or towels to dry. The average dryer cycle should take between 30-40 minutes. If the load is not completely dry after one cycle, this is a sure sign of restricted air flow in the dryer hose.

Your clothing or outside of the dryer seem to be overly hot. This warning sign means that the exhaust vent is clogged and not working properly. This will waste a lot of energy and cause the heating element and blower in the dryer to ware out more quickly.

You notice a burning smell while running the dryer. Lint, which is very flammable, will build up in the exaust tube, lint trap, and drum casing over time. If the lint gets too hot, you may smell it starting to burn. Discontinue the use of your dryer immediately and call us to schedule your appointment.

The 'Exhaust Termination" does not open while the dryer is running. If the outside vent flap does not open properly, or you see lint or debris around the hose or vent, this means that the airflow is restricted due to lint buildup.

It has been longer than 1 year since your last dryer vent cleaning. Dryer vents should be cleaned atleast once a year to reduce the risk of fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. If your dryer is used very frequently, you may require the dryer cleaning more often.

Your clothing present a musty or mildew smell after being in the dryer. This is due to the hot air and moisture being trapped inside of the dryer. When there is a link blockage, it can cause a build up of mildew and leave a terrible odor on your clothing or towels.

Dryer vent cleaning is one thing you should take very seriously. It is crucial to have a cleaning specialist perform routine maintenence on your dryer in order to reduce energy use, enhance it's performance, and ensure it's integrity.
